Latest from the Man Cave

I read a lot

Seriously, a lot.  I always have a book on the go, generally fiction, I read the local papers and the Globe.  I also read magazines.  When you want to write for magazines it makes a lot of sense to read them.  Two of may favorites f…

There is Still Hope

As I sit hear listening as my home computer tower is potentially self destructing (ITunes shouldn’t skip music, should it?) I am not in as much pain as I was last week, or even yesterday.  In fact, I haven’t taken a painkiller of any kind all day….

Maybe this is a little more serious than I thought

I’ve griped on here a couple of times about lower back pain, and even described my history with it in a a blog post, but a week or so ago, it hit me harder than ever.  I had been for a quick shuttle Sunday, and felt fine.  Monday I had to go …

My Daypacks

So, I’m picky.  Deal
with it.  For about ten years I rocked
the “purple” back pack.  It was day bag
from “Free Time” that I picked up in Edmonton.  It got me around the world, literally.  But in th…

Man Cave Upgrades

So, how was your Halloween?  Mine was, in the end, quite mellow.  I went to two parties Friday night, but still managed to be home and in bed by midnight.  I ended up not going to a party I had a ticket for Saturday as I felt so ill Frid…

October?

Is it really almost over?  I’m looking back on the last 27 days and all
I can think is WTF!?
While my October got off to a banger start with the trip to Hornby Island,
I am generally unsure where the rest of it went….
OK – so I moved…and I act…

Official Website Launch Party Tomorrow!!

Well – this site has been up for a while now, but I haven’t really done much about it.  So – tomorrow is the  “official” launch party.  I may even send out a press release or two…
What will actually be going on?  Well – the “man c…

Quick Hit – Opus Nelson

Every summer, I spend at least one week in Nelson.  I fly up from Vancouver with my son, and stay with my
parents.  The bonus to all this, on top
of being in an awesome town, drinking the local beer, seeing my family and
having all of my food…

Mount Washington BC Cup 2010

It was hot – it was dusty – it was rooty and it was
rocky.  But none of that stopped 214
racers from coming out to challenge the Monster Mile at Mt. Washington
on Sunday, August 1, 2010.  There were
some scorching hot times thrown…

Mechanical Lower Back Pain Part Deux

Well, interwebz people, it has struck again.  After spending the week in Nelson riding bikes and not really stretching enough, travelling in planes and trucks all day last Saturday, riding at Mt Washington Sunday and then trying to ride XC Monday …

The “Why”

Welcome to the home of Braxton Consulting (a.k.a. Andrew Gower).

Before we get on with blog posts, philosophical ramblings, and reviews/reports on equipment I am looking at, let’s talk about me and why the hell I am doing this site anyways.

I get things stuck in my head that need to come out. I also do some gear reviews and testing on the side. This page provides me the platform to say what I am thinking, and pass on things I learn about life. Originally focussed on gear reviews and advenetures, the path I have been following has diverged somewhat, so now you will hear about many topics – all shared with passion.
