SASKATCHEWAN!

And Manitoba!
Things here are big, and go on for along time.
The roads are straight and disappear into the distance.
The potash mines are massive and dominate the horizon.
The clouds don’t stop.
The drives take a long time.
The tractors are wider than …

Off to Saskatchewan!

This will have to be a quick one.
Helped run and gave a Ted talk at TEDxComoxValley last night. It was fun!
Getting on a plane in under 2 hours!! Will post from the road.
After I get back next Sunday (June 2nd) it’s time for Elevate the Arts!

elections, festivals, gardens

No mountain biking.
This spring is turning out to be a little overbooked, so it will be a short post this week.
TEDxComoxValley goes next Thursday, and after checking this will be the 5th TEDx event I have helped run. I’m pretty proud of that fact. Thi…

It’s time to vote in BC

Politics is a fascinating subject, and right my home province is in the final throws of our latest provincial election.
The two main players – on the left the BC NDP, and on the right, the BC Liberals.
Sub-players in this drama, the BC Greens and the B…

Consistent + equitable = hard ass

It turns out I’m a hard ass. No, I’m not fit, I’m just strict.
This realization has come to me very clearly as a result of starting to coach my son’s soccer team of 7 year old boys.
I make them do laps if they don’t listen or pay attention.
I make them…

stairway to heaven

As I was lying in bed last night, drifting off to sleep, I had the most amazing idea.
In the common area, just outside my office, there is a bookcase. It is about the right height to cover a doorway and it is on an interior wall with a 2 storey storage…

Will wonders never cease?

First, I received an e-mail from the Premier! I kid you not!  Here it is:
As Premier of British Columbia, I would like to congratulate you on being recognized as one of the Top 20 Under 40 at the Business and Community Achievement Awards Night in …

Hapush Bowl

It was very sunny at Mount Cain last weekend. Sunny, with mostly stable snow and very warm temperatures. With a season where I haven’t done a lot of touring, it was a good opportunity to head out back. The hike over. Dave checks out one of the “doors” …

The “Why”

Welcome to the home of Braxton Consulting (a.k.a. Andrew Gower).

Before we get on with blog posts, philosophical ramblings, and reviews/reports on equipment I am looking at, let’s talk about me and why the hell I am doing this site anyways.

I get things stuck in my head that need to come out. I also do some gear reviews and testing on the side. This page provides me the platform to say what I am thinking, and pass on things I learn about life. Originally focussed on gear reviews and advenetures, the path I have been following has diverged somewhat, so now you will hear about many topics – all shared with passion.
