Mount Washington?
So, let’s start out with the fact that the title of this blog is not an April Fool’s joke. I did, in all seriousness, spend an entire weekend at Mount Washington. Really. No fooling. I even did some touring in the back country r…
Time
During the day, I work as an engineering consultant. I am often asked to produce a proposal for municipalities to help them decide to hire my firm to do some design work. The value of these proposals can anywhere from $25,000 to $250,000.&n…
Six Days of Cain
(Note: This is from earlier in the year and I was going to submit it to some magazines. To be honest, I don’t have the time or energy, and I think I would rather share it with you all for free than make it so you would have to pay to read it.&nbs…

Exciting news from the Mancave – my all new, Banshee Prime pre-production bike is built up and I fit in a ride! Thanks to Banshee Bikes for the privilege of getting one of these and to Trail Bicycles for the parts and building it up! I will…
1, 1 mountain…2, 2 mountains! Ah ha ha ha ha!!!
Yes, the title of this post should be read in the voice of the Count from Sesame Street. Yes, I have indeed skied two mountains in the last three days. Yes, I am tired, yet stoked!

This is a new feature here at citizenclass. My incredible six year old, Cole, is going to tell us about his weekend. Expect to hear from Cole 3-4 times per year with regular instalments of “Cole’s Notes”!
Well, when I was going up the tee-b…
Near Death Experiences
It started out like any good powder day. Fresh snow, good friends, strong legs. While the avalanche bulletin rated the risk as “considerable”, things felt stable and the powder beckoned. There were about 10 or so people in the circle I was …
Sunny Daze
Hi loyal readers. I’ve been dealing with some personal issues lately, thus the silence. Don’t worry, I am going to be OK, just trying to root out the causes of some nagging anxiety.
In the meantime, it was sunny on Saturday, and I took some…
Holy ass slap Batman!
Well. We HAVE had an interesting weekend. Up to Mt. Cain of course, and it was snowing, slushing and nasty the whole drive up. Saturday was the Cain Cup – the annual race to see who on the mountain is the fastest at skiing gates. …
Pretty Pictures
No major stories from this past weekend, just some very nice photo’s.
This is Mt. Cain. The tallest peak on the right of this photo that is. The zone below is locally known as the “East bowl”.
This is Mt.Abel.

The “Why”
Welcome to the home of Braxton Consulting (a.k.a. Andrew Gower).
Before we get on with blog posts, philosophical ramblings, and reviews/reports on equipment I am looking at, let’s talk about me and why the hell I am doing this site anyways.
I get things stuck in my head that need to come out. I also do some gear reviews and testing on the side. This page provides me the platform to say what I am thinking, and pass on things I learn about life. Originally focussed on gear reviews and advenetures, the path I have been following has diverged somewhat, so now you will hear about many topics – all shared with passion.
