A Mount Cain Post!

It was hard to believe, but before last weekend I hadn’t been to Mount Cain for OVER A MONTH!

Now that’s how to advertise!
Last weekend was the 2013 Cain Cup, and there was an inversion so sunny skies and warm temperatures. I was on the fence about ra…

Generation Clash

Recently, I found myself in an argument. My opponent was older than me (by about 30 years), a business owner, and also a white male. It was an odd event, which I will not go into to much detail about, but the main presenter spent most of his talking ti…

There goes my max the credit card for fun plan!

blood on my pants!

Not mine, fortunately. This last weekend was opening weekend at Mount Cain. In what I thought was a clever plan, I volunteered to be Director on Duty for the entire weekend. This decision was based on the fact that last year on opening weekend, there wa…

Forbidden hiking

This will be primarily an image centred post.  I want for an afterwork hike up the old Wood Mountain ski hill on Forbidden Plateau last night.  It was gorgeous!

I built this!

This weekend I got to be far more involved in an engineering project than I usually do.  I was up at Mt. Cain helping to build a new waste-water disposal system!  Yes, if you visit Mt. Cain this winter and flush a toilet, the water will be ge…

The best back pack you will never get to buy…

This spring I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to test a variety of winter back-packs for a friend who works for an outdoorsy magazine.  He had been sent a rather alarming amount of bags to review for publication this fall, and couldn’…

The “Why”

Welcome to the home of Braxton Consulting (a.k.a. Andrew Gower).

Before we get on with blog posts, philosophical ramblings, and reviews/reports on equipment I am looking at, let’s talk about me and why the hell I am doing this site anyways.

I get things stuck in my head that need to come out. I also do some gear reviews and testing on the side. This page provides me the platform to say what I am thinking, and pass on things I learn about life. Originally focussed on gear reviews and advenetures, the path I have been following has diverged somewhat, so now you will hear about many topics – all shared with passion.
