… o’ Mice an’ Men,
Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!

(The best laid schemes of Mice and Men
oft go awry,
And leave us nothing but grief and pain,
For promised joy!)

Last weekend was schedule to be the third annual Mancation on Hornby Island. You may recall the 2010 rendition, and even the 2011 version as reported here at citizenclass. Well, despite some advance planning, including being packed on Thursday night for a Saturday departure, there was no Mancation 2012.

I should have known as I had my groceries purchased ahead of time and my bike ready to go.  I am quite confident that if I had done nothing to prepare for the trip, it would have gone ahead!! Oh well, it should still be nice at the end of November when I have a free weekend again…

On other schemes – winter is coming.  I booked several (well – about 24) day’s at Mount Cain today! I have been strategic this year and placed the majority in February and March.  That’s when there will be more snow!

Some exciting news from the mountain bike world – Banshee has started to release more details of the revised Legend downhill bike, the new Rune 6 inch travel platform and the new Spitfire!  NSMB.com has some excellent coverage by friend of citizenclass Seb Kemp.

Finally – a quick update on the above number.  This is from last year – and it is now officially 10 lbs less.  Yay me!  All it took was cutting sugar and milk from my coffee, and whiskey at night before bed.  Small sacrifices but worth it! My ski pants may even fit this year!
