While all the “professionals” were racing in Leogang, and all the jumpy-jump types were at “Jump Ship” in Victoria, all us cool kids were in Port Alice racing the best downhill mountain bike track in the world!
I entrusted my camera to this friend of mine, let’s just call her J-wow. Pics for now – words later after shower-sleep-work-hockey…
Tall bike – gold jacket…
Ya – I’m this stoked to be racing!
This photo really needs a caption…
My number for race day!
Burned bicycle offerings of Rumblefests past
Bicycle in a tree and HEJHAR!
That’s what happens when you crash hard. Its a shame that the guy who crashed probably has a broken ankle…he was killing it. Healing vibes.
Going down…
In the start gate ready to roll!
Here’s the quick weekend summary. Watched the ‘Nucks win Friday evening then jammed with the band. Drove up Saturday morning after a couple of side trips. Got up to Port Alice with plenty of time to get set up before the course opened for practice after the XC race. Did two laps. Had the best salmon dinner evar! Even better than last years. Proceeded to NOT get so drunk I couldn’t talk. Still partied a little bit. Laser lights, booze, other “fun time products”, DJ music and party people are hard to resist. Met a cute lady! Even recruited her onto my 12 Hours of Cumberland team!! Woke up early Sunday. RACED!! Didn’t go very fast (at least I didn’t crash…much better than last year’s puking hung-over, muddy, crash fest debacle). Won a sweet yellow courier bag in the draw prizes! The other highlight of the weekend, most of the Cain locals were up for the party also! WOOT!!!
