I am on vacation. For real. In Nelson. Today I have nothing planned – and no ambition. It is quite awesome!
My apologies to certain members of my family with whom I had made plans, and then cancelled. I should have been more clear about that last night.
That’s the thing with plans. When not on vacation, all you have are plans, deadlines and schedules. When on vacation, it is very nice to get away from that. Its a good thing too, as I have just noticed there has been a coffee malfunction. That will need to be sorted out before I go anywhere…
So far this vacation has been pretty darn nice. Beach time, kayak time, bike time, son time, girlfriend time, family time. Here’s a little picture I took, underwater, with my fancy camera, from a kayak!
These are spawning Kokanee salmon, in Kokanee creek. I took this photo by holding my Panasonic Lumix TS-2 underwater. It has suffered no ill effects from the immersion.
And yes, you read it right. I went for a bike ride, on trails, on a mountain bike. In fact, I rode my Scythe, which is the first time I have ridden one of my own bikes on my annual summer pilgrimage here in a very long time. I even got to finally try out my new POC soft shell knee pads. After about 2 minutes of riding, I completely forgot I had them on. They didn’t slip, chafe, rub or move. I am very impressed and very glad I paid the premium for them. My apologies to Al however for my complete lack of fitness. Something will have to be done about that…

I believe the coffee has almost sorted itself out, and I think I have a book to read…
