Went for a little trail ride in Cumberland yesterday (I know – GASP – Andrew still mountain bikes!). Had something really, really crazy happen…
The five sections of log to the right of the trail all fell down, from about 20 feet, about 10 seconds after Dave road through and about 10 seconds before I would have. They fell as one big chunk from a dead tree – it broke off about 15 feet above the ground…
The rest of the ride went really well, but the tree falling really shook everyone up. Talk about near death or near horrible injury experience…
I have to say, good friends are key to a good life. This guy is one of my best. Dave moved to Campbell River for work about a month ago. He used to live right across the street. I could talk to him from my deck if he was on his. I miss that and will be making a point of riding with him or just seeing him as often as possible. Cherish your friends – they are what life is all about.
That’s it for now. There’s a turkey in the oven and a baby party to go to. Next week, I promise I will post a couple of gear reviews and previews. Unless a friend needs me…
