This has been a rather stressful week. Transitioning from my idyllic weekend in farmland Saskatchewan, Monday hit harder than a ten ton truck.
A couple of years ago, I was the stage manager for the ‘Barn’ at the Vancouver Island Music Festival. I though that was chaotic…I even wrote a blog about it.
However, as the technical director for the second ever Elevate the Arts festival in Courtenay, I am experiencing a whole new level of chaos.
My day started with the news that the company providing lighting and sound for our biggest stage, wasn’t able to provide it all weekend! Fortunately, that issue resolved itself and we are back on track. Later in the day, another company changed their mind about providing a sound system…but fortunately they changed back and I don’t have to scramble at the last minute to try and replace it.
It looks like everything is going to line up…just.
I hate to say it, but I am looking forward to next week when it is all over. In fact, next Monday by noon I should have the last bits of gear returned.
Then its summer. A real summer – no more festivals to help produce. Lots of time to ride bikes, go camping and (hopefully) climb mountains.
